If You Are Nervous, You Are Not Alone!
If just thinking about the dentist’s office makes you break out in a cold sweat, please realize that you are one of many. There are many patients who get anxious no matter how simple the procedure they may be facing. Sedation dentistry means that you do not have to avoid the dentist. You also do not have to be in absolute fear when you come in.
Sedation Dentistry Can Make You Feel Calm and Safe
Our kind and gentle dentist, Dr. Fisher, empathizes with nervous patients. For this reason, we provide sedation dentistry to help you feel calm, safe, and comfortable throughout your entire visit. For those who have suffered through negative dental experiences at some time in the past, we offer two types of sedation dentistry to the Nampa, Idaho, community.
There Are Two Options
- Nitrous Oxide – Nitrous oxide is a gas sedative that is commonly called laughing gas. It is administered through a breathing mask during your dental appointment. This treatment can make you feel at ease and produces a sensation that can be described as enjoyable floating. The sedative effect will wear off within minutes of the end of your dental treatment, and you will be safe to drive yourself home.
- Oral Sedation – With this treatment, you will be administered a sedative pill before your appointment starts. You take this at home, and by the time you reach the office you are relaxed and calm. While oral sedation will not put you to sleep, it is likely that you will not remember all of your treatment. This oral sedative will take a few hours to wear off, so you will need to bring a friend or relative to drive you home. Don’t make any important appointments for the time immediately following your dental appointment.
Sedation Dentistry is Safe
Each of the sedatives we have mentioned are completely safe and used by thousands on a routine basis. We encourage you to contact our office at Fisher Dentistry and find out how sedation dentistry can help you reach the goals you have for a beautiful smile.
